Pros
Reasonable pay for the type of work performed. Reasonable amount of days off provided. Depending on the shop that you work at, there might be a lot of downtime.
Kontras
-If you work outside of the Grapevine (Corporate offices) area, be prepared to have absolutely nobody to talk about company procedures. -Service Technician managers do not win their positions, they are just put there after all the technicians quit. -The company is growing tremendously however there is always lack on inventory, saturated helpdesk line support, and as a service technician/installer you are the absolutely last one to know about changes in the company. -Upper directors claim that technicians are the most important employees of the company as we have to deal face-to-face with clients, however they only give you a pat on the back as pay raises have been reduced more and more over the years. -As a 12v installer you are not provided with a company database to lookup vehicle wiring, they just give you a couple of outdated free websites that have no pictures and pretty much you have to figure out everything on your own. -All tools have to be purchased out of pocket which seems fair, however there is no incentive or even a little yearly bonus for a technician to acquire new tools. -They have a very poor system to pay out for installations, on average they pay about 50 cents or less for every install that you perform, and this is only paid out every 6 months so it "looks" that you have accumulated a big bonus. - No HR department, pretty much any questions that you have are answered by your manager "at his discretion". -Want a full week of vacation with the days that you have earned and accumulated? Be prepared to be told you are not a team player and how busy other technicians are going to be because of you. If you complain about your manager to his superior pretty much he will be informed and he will take it out on all the employees. Lack of information from upper management, being a technician you are the lowest of the lowest in the company and you are informed about nothing therefore your manager can enforce rules that might or might not exist. This opinions are based solely on my experience working here, other employees might have had different experiences or better managers assigned, however I believe this will help upper management have knowledge of what happens on the lowest level of the company.
