Pros

I’ve been working here for some time and thought I’d leave a few words of feedback. The company creates a friendly atmosphere. I feel that I have support and in case of any problems I wouldn’t hesitate to contact anyone even outside of my team. The application is large and requires a lot of thinking before introducing any changes, but at the same time it is carried out in accordance with accepted patterns and everyone tries to stick to it. The company is growing strongly, which is visible in the statistics e.g. the number of employees. Private healthcare and training budget but this is standard now. Overall a nice place to work when it comes to people.

Kontras

I have a problem with promoting the company to my colleagues because everyone rejects it due to the lack of a fully remote option. Nowadays it’s a standard all over the world, even banks that, like us, are closely related to finances, are switching to full remote work, closing or keeping offices (for those who want to work from them). I have the impression that Smart here, with its stubbornness, deprives itself of the possibility of employing more specialists and, what is worse, loses very valuable employees. For me and my colleagues it’s irrational and I can see the growing discouragement towards the company because of that. If Smart adopted a fully remote work for everyone who wants to work like this, me and many other employees would stay here for at least a few more years. It would literally become the best company we’ve worked for. In the opposite situation, it is difficult not to consider other employers when they don't care about the place but the results of the work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review; as you know, we really value feedback as we use it to help us make Smart an even better place to work. We’re so glad that you feel that Smart is a friendly and supportive place to work, as that’s exactly the culture we want. We like to think that the culture was formed because we make sure to hire great people who do great work (and that includes you). We know that working from home is a hot topic right now for all businesses and we also know that the question has been raised and answered several times over the past few months at Town Halls. But, with no definitive end date to the working from home advice given by the government and with our new offices not due to be ready until later in the year, there really is nothing more for us to add at this stage. For some time before the pandemic hit, we were already allowing people to work from home two days per week, as well as being flexible on our start and finish times and of course, all of our meeting rooms were set up to be able to handle remote calls and meetings, so we were already in a good place. Right at the very start of lockdown, we made a commitment to follow the government advice and we continue to do that. That advice is still to work from home where possible and that is exactly what we are doing and we will not be changing that until we are advised. Since starting working from home in March last year, the business has grown exponentially with Series C funding, two international implementations, 40 internal promotions and over 250 people have joined us, so from a business point of view, it has been a very successful period for Smart and we hope to continue our success moving forward. We try to be clear and concise with all our communications at all times (we put a lot of effort into this) and we use multiple channels to help us do this, but, if you do feel there is something we have missed, please do reach out directly to our Internal Comms Manager, Lucy, and I know she will happily answer any direct questions around certain comms that you feel we may have missed or could have done better with. You mentioned your career path, and that’s something we can work with you on as we prefer to promote internally rather than looking externally. We’ll look at how we promote these paths internally so that you and other colleagues can see clearly what needs to be done. Thanks again for the feedback.

Pros

Made lasting relationships and the coffee machine was wonderful. Enjoyed the remote/hybrid culture.

Kontras

Company was late to market. The CEO was puppet for the consulting firm that was assisting us.
