Pros
Progress. You can work with some smart and skilled people and progress in your skillset which will set you up well in the future pretty well. They do seem to care about giving back and helping less fortunate people, not just for show, but it actually seems like a genuine effort on their part. That part of the company is respectable.
Kontras
- Stressful. Not a laid back environment whatsoever. Continually changing directions, and not in the exciting way of "fast paced", but in the way of firing entire teams of people and hiring new staff for different positions without properly vetting them because they don't have time. They have gone through a lot of employees over a short amount of time, that's why they have over 50 glassdoor reviews for a company with only 100 employees and has been in business for only a few years. - Underpaid. Working in development they do not pay well. Make sure to absolutely demand what you are worth before accepting an offer and never expect a raise. They went back and forth for months "making plans" on how I can get a simple raise after being there for a year. Finally after leaving Simplus I found a job paying twenty thousand more within a week, literally one week from leaving and I got that much of a bump to simply get my market value. This story is repeated multiple times through multiple employees. People leaving to get a 40% increased pay somewhere else right away. - Titles. In order to underpay their employees they give everyone a great title. It seems as though over half the current company are VP's, Managers, Executives, or Directors. They do this, I assume, because the feel they can pay you less if they slap a fancy title on you, employees will consider it a good investment. - Micro-managed. Scrum meetings every morning, Task management software tracking every minute you work on everything. Every second of your day tracked and monitored. If you go over on any project that's scoped by someone that has no idea what they are doing they act as if you are personally responsible for losing the company billable time. If you like having every single second of your day tracked, If you like spending a good portion of the day entering project details and times and lists into complex project management software, if you like having to deal with project managers and be micro managed non-stop every day multiple times a day, this is the place for you. - With these negatives listed, I will say that the company does seem to slowly be shifting in the right direction. I would say the outlook is good and some of these issues are due to them being relatively new and finding out what direction they really want to go. I think in fairness many of these issues will resolve over time.
