Mission with teeth: we’re not just “disrupting” retail, we’re actually changing how the biggest players operate. A-team talent: you’ll work with people who are both wicked smart and genuinely collaborative - ego doesn’t fly here. Ownership mindset: no babysitting. If you see a gap, you can fill it and run with it. Culture of hustle + heart: high expectations, but people back each other up. It’s intense, but not cutthroat. Big sandbox: robotics + AI at scale is rare; the problems here aren’t boring, and you’ll never run out of challenges.

Navigating ambiguity is the norm: priorities shift fast; if you need crystal-clear direction, this isn’t your place. Scrappy isn’t for everyone: resources are tight and processes aren’t polished—if you want playbooks handed to you, look elsewhere. High bar, high pressure: expectations are real. Coasting isn’t an option. Growing pains: scaling fast means communication gaps and the occasional fire drill—adaptability is survival. Career paths aren’t paved: if you want a corporate ladder, you’ll have to build your own rungs here.

Pros

Our product solves an actual problem. That simple fact motivates every single member of staff. I will also say that Simbe is very particular about who we hire and a good amount of energy is spent making sure potential new hires are a good culture fit. In doing so, we've assembled a group of LOVELY individuals whom I'm proud to be in the trenches with. I usually tell people that at my previous jobs, I've gotten bored within a year or 2. After 5 years at Simbe, however, my job continues to evolve and keeps me on my toes.

Startup life can be overwhelming and chaotic. Additionally, the better the company does, the MORE busy we are. So my only recommendation for those who have never worked for a startup: Understand what sort of a work environment you're signing up for.

Pros

Startup lifestyle but that comes with its own pros and cons. Unlimited paid time off but as soon as you are out of the office for 5 working days with manager approval, they are likely to terminate you.

Kontras

This company will chew you up and spit you out at the drop of a hat. They claim to have family values and to treat employees as close friends but as soon as they sense any kind of trouble or pushback, they will throw you to the curb. The prevailing mindset is that you should be thankful to give your soul to work for them and be happy with however they decide to compensate you. Robotics and hardware take a back seat to the marketing team members that are treated as everlasting celebrities and you have to be reminded time and time again of how important those sales and marketing team members are at every all-hands meeting.
