Pros
Shoot Smart...a business that has an interesting marketing plan that is conceivably a neat idea, along with having employees that were able to make it happen, to an extent. The experience gained working around firearms is beneficial for someone new to the arena of the firearms industry, and for someone with experience can potentially provide an avenue to stay up to date (provided product can be obtained.) A meager discount on merchandise is provided after a probationary period of employment. Also access to training classes offered by in-house instructors of varying skill/ training levels, provided there is enough public interest to offset the cost of course, are offered free of charge. Generally, the store staff are pleasant and fun to work with and the main customer base is as well. Generally shift flexibility is good, you can even earn PTO as a PT employee, but there are caveats.
Kontras
Upper management seems completely disconnected from reality and the employees at the store level, and it seems to be infiltrating the lower echelons of management. Including telling an employee in their first couple of weeks, "Your opinion does not matter." in regards to suggesting a type of firearm for a customer for a specific purpose. If you are hired, and by chance obtain additional employment, there is a good probability that you will be let go with the only explanation given is that your services are no longer required. Some members of management, apparently have a problem with male facial hair, even though there is no safety related reason, and it is well groomed; even went as far as threatening termination of employees I had heard if they did not shave. So, if you have a beard/mustache, be ready to shave and remain so. (Unless you are a gunsmith then it may not apply to you...discriminatory?) PTO-you may or may not be approved to take off time that you have earned, being told it's not really earned yet, even though its on your benefit/check stub page...that doesn't go into the black out periods for the FT staff that usually loose days because there is no roll over, use or loose. The provided "PPThe "vented masks", because that's the best description they deserve, for range cleaning, barely worked; if it cost additional money you were told to fix it, find a way to make it work, etc. The rest has mostly already been said on other reviews.
