Pros

There are great people to work with that you will love! I go to work every day for the people I manage and work with. Plus, if the company turns around, great opportunities should be awaiting in the future. Sears has a TON of potential, they just don't know how to tap into it... yet.

Horrible benefits, expensive insurance and no match for 401k, no raises, limited talent in management due to limited pay, benefits, politics, and old ways of thinking.... "old school" management will not innovate new ideas, and the company lacks investment acumen to remain competitive in the market. "Change" is a word they don't understand. I hold 2 bachelors degrees surrounding business applications, but lack experience as a recent graduate, but my ideas/innovations are always shot down. Politics are extremely heavy. I went into the company with the hopes of promoting to corporate and making a difference in their future (since I have 2 degrees, the drive, and loyalty), but 3 years later, I'm in the same position, and same pay with ever increasing responsibility. I plan on leaving the company very soon for better opportunities. The companies main issues stem from the top, down. It seems like everyone from Chicago (Corporate), is too busy trying to put "Band-Aids" on problems instead of investing in the right areas to fix the root cause of the problem, not to mention it takes FOREVER to make the slightest changes in policy. There are people that truly want to make a difference (like myself), but they cant due to their position, lack of voice, and fear of political retribution. I can only assume that Eddie Lambert (CEO) and other high level executives are spending too much time trying to maintain the stock price, revenue, ect... instead of making hard decisions that need to be made. The company is SO big.. SO many departments.. SO many lines of business, that it is very difficult to manage, so I get it. However, It's time to focus on what we want Sears to be, and be it! Cut the fat, and rebrand the companies image. The old Sears is what got us into this mess... so why are we trying to maintain it? Its just very frustrating to watch as an educated individual... but as you can tell, I have LOVE for this company... its just too bad I have no way of making a difference or even being heard.
