Pros
1. I choose when I scan. My only limitations are the 'best food date' which is considered the optimal time to scan (It is different for many stores but always from Wednesday to Friday from my experience) and the store hours. 2. My regional managers have been amazing. They've worked with me when family emergencies have popped up or when I have gotten sick without guilting me or pressuring me to work when I say I can't. 3. they pay for drive time for stores if the drive is longer than 30 minutes round trip. (ie. if it takes me an hour to get to a store and back I get paid for half an hour of driving) 4. the job is simple and I personally like to listen to podcasts or audiobooks on my phone while I scan. I find this to be a big plus! 5. clear communication. a rarity in many workplaces. 6. each week there is an email sent out including any extra stores that you can pick up that week if you would like to get more hours. 7. You are not expected to work weekends. You only work weekends if you request to because you need a time extension.
Kontras
1. If you are not good at time management this job isn't for you, and that's ok. It isn't for everyone. You are responsible of making sure you get everything done, it is in person in the stores but in my experience, most interactions with my managers have been through email and just a few calls. 2. Despite taking the position part-time I generally get less than ten hours with my stores. I was made aware of the fact that this would be the case during the interview portion, though. As mentioned in the pros, they generally have good communications but your hours will depend on what 'routes' (store groupings) they have available. On top of this, the weekly email sent out will have other stores in your area you can pick up for extra hours, it just isn't as convenient as scanning the same stores each week. 3. extra tasks are pretty common. some of them only take a few extra minutes per store, these are the most common in my experience. Every once in a while you might get a few that will add on an extra hour. I've never gotten more than 3 of these at once on any given week, and I usually get an email the week before letting me know that I'll have these extra tasks.
