Pros

There is no pros, other 5 star reviews are also made by their own managers.

Kontras

There is a significant lack of job security at ScalaCode across all departments and roles. Employees are often retained only as long as there is immediate work to be completed. Once the need is fulfilled, their positions are no longer considered necessary. The company lacks a proper work-from-home (WFH) policy. Remote work is permitted only when it aligns with management’s convenience. Flexibility is often promised but rarely practiced. Employees are frequently expected to work beyond their scheduled hours, including weekends, without any compensation, comp-off, or recognition for their efforts. While managers may politely request weekend work to meet project deadlines, once the task is completed, employees often face blame for unrelated issues and receive no acknowledgment or rewards. It’s also concerning that WFH is primarily reserved for managers, reportedly to accommodate their freelance commitments, while regular employees are denied the same flexibility. A rigid 9.5-hour workday is strictly enforced. Any deviation below this results in salary deductions, yet there is no bonus or comp-off for working overtime or on weekends. This one-sided policy appears designed for short-term gains, where employees are hired to deliver beyond their capacity in order to meet unrealistic client commitments. When these commitments fall through, developers are blamed and threatened with termination, creating a toxic and mentally stressful environment. There is minimal team support or proper project backup in place. Employees are often held accountable for systemic failures without justification. Terminations can happen suddenly and without notice, sometimes affecting multiple employees within a single month. There is no severance pay or compensation provided in such cases. In summary, ScalaCode does not offer a stable or supportive work environment. It falls short in key areas such as job security, mental and physical well-being, work-life balance, and fair treatment of employees.

Employer Response Thank you for sharing your feedback. We truly value hearing from past and present employees, as it helps us continue improving. We would like to respectfully clarify a few points: Working Hours: Our official workday is 8.5 hours, not 9.5 hours. This aligns with industry standards while maintaining balance between productivity and personal life. Job Security: Terminations, though rare, are primarily performance-related and not arbitrary. We strive to provide support and guidance before such decisions are made. Final Settlement (F&F): We do not hold back settlements. All dues are cleared within the standard timelines as per company policy. Attendance & Discipline: Our attendance policies are designed to encourage discipline and fairness across teams, rather than penalize unnecessarily. Work-from-Home (WFH): WFH is allowed when client/project needs make it feasible. It is not limited to any specific level of employees. Overtime / Extra Effort: While certain deadlines may occasionally require additional effort, this is not the norm. We deeply appreciate the commitment of employees who go the extra mile. That said, we also recognize the importance of employee well-being, recognition, and engagement. These are areas we continue to invest in, because we believe our people are the foundation of ScalaCode’s success. We thank you again for your input and remain committed to building a workplace that is fair, transparent, and supportive for all.

Pros

A few supportive colleagues (if you’re lucky). Nothing much beyond that.

Kontras

here is absolutely no job security at ScalaCode for any department or role. They keep people only as long as they need work done. There’s no proper WFH policy — it’s given only when it suits the management’s needs. Flexibility is a joke — they want you to stretch beyond your shift, but don’t expect any comp-off or appreciation in return. Recently they hired new tech and delivery managers who run the show entirely for their own benefit. They work night shifts because they spend their day shifts on their own side projects. So now, everyone else is forced to adjust to their night schedules too. If you refuse, they’ll create reasons to push you out — even if you’ve been loyal for years. They’ve even fired one of the best managers the company had, just to please the new delivery manager who has no idea how to handle a service-based project. One of my teammates openly works under the influence of drugs during office hours — management looks the other way. They spend money ordering food and snacks but only for their small inner circle of 4 people, while ignoring the rest. The positive work environment that existed under the earlier project manager is completely gone. The entire company dances to the mood swings of these two so-called managers. If they like you, you stay. If they don’t, you’re out.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We’re genuinely disappointed to hear you feel this way, and we’d like to clarify a few points. At ScalaCode, we do not compromise on job security for our people — project-based work naturally comes with shifting demands, but we always strive to retain valuable employees wherever possible and provide clarity when changes occur. Regarding our work-from-home and flexibility policies, these are designed to balance client needs, project timelines, and employee comfort — we understand they may not suit everyone in every situation, but they are applied fairly and not selectively. It’s concerning to hear claims about substance abuse and misuse of company resources — we take such matters seriously and have processes in place to address inappropriate behaviour. We encourage anyone with evidence to report it directly and confidentially to HR so action can be taken. Leadership changes can be challenging for any organization, but our new managers are here to strengthen delivery and growth. While there may be different working styles, no employee is forced to adjust unreasonably or unfairly. Decisions to release or retain people are never made on personal whims but on performance, conduct, and project needs. We value honest feedback and remain committed to creating a supportive, transparent work culture for all. We truly wish you the best and appreciate your input, which helps us continue improving.
