Pros

Closing skill gaps is a problem I truly believe needs to be solved. The clients you get to work with is by far the best part of being an employee at Sales Assembly. You also are working alongside a great team of people who care deeply about each other and their clients. My role ended up not being the best fit for a few reasons. I was supported on my way out beyond expectations.

Kontras

It sounds like there was a toxic leader who left earlier this year. We did not overlap much but I know they poached an employee on the way out. Things change A LOT. Too often sometimes. Expectations can be clearer and communication can be better. For such a small company with a limited number of resources I know they are doing the best they can.

Pros

The team and people you work with at Sales Assembly are about as good as it gets. Not only have the founders built an incredible team that punches above their weight, they’ve helped build one of the best communities out there. It was a unique opportunity to learn from great people at hundreds of different orgs. I also loved the vision that the team has been piecing together. They are solving a big problem and doing it in a unique way.

If you’re looking to join the team one thing you have to keep in mind is that this is a small, bootstrapped team. For some people that’s a pro, others it’s a con. If you’re used to a bigger org it’ll be an adjustment. The team definitely runs lean and to be successful you’ll need to be a self starter. The last thing I’d say is that things do “change” a lot, at least while I was there. I thing the team does a pretty good job of keeping you in the loop but you still need to stay on top of it.

Pros

Solving learning for GTM teams is critical, and Sales Assembly is an innovative way for companies to solve scaling, learning, and make their enablement teams even stronger. As a scrappy bootstrapped team, they accomplished what a team of 50 did with a team of less than 15. There’s no one better in the space than these folks at developing relationships, connecting folks, and innovating how to learn at work.

Start ups are hard, and being a first time founder is hard. Do they have all the answers? No. Working here, you have to be comfortable wearing multiple hats. You have to be comfortable taking on new roles and responsibilities. Don’t expect the perks, benefits, and structure of a VC or PE funded company.
