Pros
I spent over five years at SEOM, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity, especially considering I started with zero experience. The structure, training, and commitment to promoting from within are exceptional. Mark is an outstanding leader, and his philosophies around work-life balance, personal growth, and team culture genuinely shape the company. I couldn’t have asked for a better boss and environment to start my career. One of the biggest strengths of SEOM is how well-rounded the experience is. You don’t just “do SEO.” You manage accounts, contribute to writing, handle technical work, and support development-related tasks. Some people may prefer more specialization, but the broad exposure makes you extremely capable and confident in future roles. There’s also strong coaching around leadership, mentoring interns, and helping junior team members grow, which prepared me well for taking on bigger responsibilities later in my career. Looking back now, especially after seeing how other agencies operate, I can confidently say SEOM prepared me exceptionally well.
Kontras
Since COVID, there’s been less in-office collaboration than before. The team is still close-knit, but the pre-pandemic in-person energy was something special. As others have noted, client retainers tend to be on the smaller side, which can limit salary ceilings compared to larger agencies. That said, the work-life balance and flexibility are excellent, and overall it’s an outstanding place to start and develop as a digital marketer.
