The problem with being a fantastic company to work for is that very few employees leave, and most of those that do are the ones that have hit their head on the ceiling and really want to do more. Management and other leadership positions are hard to come by because those positions rarely open up. Most employees have no real career path beyond <title>, senior <title> and principal <title>, and those are really just about the same job. Line managers know this and really struggle to sell a career path in the hiring process. Folks based at HQ lead the good life.
