Pros
Dispatch from home. Get to schedule appointments with customers for non catastrophic losses at your own convenience. Healthy commissions on jobs sold. Paid weekly. Good benefits, if you are at a corporate owned location.
Kontras
Long work days. You are typically scheduled only a few days a week (3 for 4 days) to be in "Stand-by" status, this allows you to be fed leads - often times spending many hours waiting for leads. The days you are scheduled, you are "On-Call" quite literally the entire day (i.e. 7am-10pm). Only get paid on jobs when they "Code-out," and if they code out under the minimum cost to receive commission, you do NOT get paid on it. Currently have to sell at mimimum $15k in jobs weekly to be paid commission on them. Have to use personal vehicle and no company car provided. This puts lots of wear and tear on vehicle. If you are not hitting your sales quotas, the salary will not be enough.
