Pros

monday through friday schedule. flexibility, decent pay and benefits. get to work with a mixed clientele, helping people walk hand-in-hand with their mental health struggles and help their recovery.

Kontras

This place gives new meaning to treatment team. Your “team” will consist of RAD-Ts (Registered Alcohol and Drug Technicians) and an AOD (Alcohol and other drug) counselor who are the case managers; weighing in and criticizing your clinical work. Management does not stop them working outside of their scope of practice. The other therapists also will weigh in and there is a hierarchy there based on seniority. Regardless of your skill level, they will try and make you feel as if you do not know what you are doing or that they know better…and the “treatment team” will team up against you. They have sort of a hazing there and where you have to prove yourself to them. There is a pecking order, favoritism, nepotism, etc. If you are a new therapist and have never worked anywhere, then this place might be ok for you, but if you have been a therapist anywhere else, please avoid this place. You will not like it. You deserve better and don’t put yourself through this suffering.

Pros

I have worked a lot of places in my professional career, and Roots is by far the best place I've ever worked. Love the family-like environment and culture in the workplace. Most importantly, everyone truly cares about seeing people get better, and has the best interest of our patients at heart. Highly recommend working at Roots!

Kontras

I can't think of any cons to working at Roots

Pros

- Clients are awesome sauce! - Non management employees are kind and generous with their knowledge and time.

Kontras

- Management (upper, I assume) is super shady. They treat their business as a fiefdom. As a result, rules and policies are not consistent for all employees. Procedures focus on profit over client results. Every intake is out of ethical procedural sequence. Informed consent for treatment takes place last and not first.
