Pros
People outside of the industry think you are SOoOo cool for working there.
Kontras
Where do I start? Working at Roc Nation was the most miserable time of my life. I was SO excited to join a black-owned company but boy I should've stayed away. The company is ran by a completely evil, psychopath who has no care in the world for her employees (ask bout her reputation in the industry). If I sat and told stories, you would be in completely in disbelief. Incredibly toxic environment, with everyone visibly hating their lives. You will be talked to in ways even your parents never dared to, emailed and called at all hours of the night to be berated, you are expected to have no personal life and wanted to work extremely long hours with low pay. People outside of the industry will be impressed when you tell them you work at Roc Nation but when networking with people within the industry they will side eye and ask you how you're surviving. Their reputation in the industry is HORRIBLE. Incredible amount of turn over, if you last a year you're considered a veteran. I have NEVER dealt with mental health issues but developed depression and anxiety in my time at Roc. MANY employees started going to therapy to make it through...that's unacceptable. Complete hypocrites in the media portraying that they care for people of color and want to make change but making their own employees lives living hell. It's like a mass exodus every couple of months with people quitting once they've met their wits end, many without jobs. It's THAT bad. Stay clear! Roc Nation is only afloat because they are riding on Jay-Z's name.
