Pros
- Family - that's what it felt like. It wasn't just going to work and watching a clock like previous jobs. There was a mission to accomplish and people counted on one another to hold their end of the bargain. There were certainly disagreements but they were resolved. I formed life long friendships that I will be forever grateful for. - Collaborative like I had not seen. A "failure" or "error" generally wasn't an excuse to compete with one another or say "I'm better than Jon Doe." It was an opportunity to collaborate with one another and get better. - Executives empowered people, and gave them the tools, to do their jobs well. - Team never accepted status quo. Drive for continuous improvement across the entire company. - Visionaries. Ability to see things in you and others that you may not see yourself. I've never seen technology harnessed at a company like it was at Rice. It was used to bring large groups of people together and everyone's voice mattered. Work was completed quickly and effectively. Things that took weeks at other companies took hours at Rice. - Leadership team was clear with expectations and complimented one another. Some leaders have an innate ability to motivate and bring people together - and that was clearly visible at Rice. They were pioneers in Appalachia - thought, walked, and talked differently and it worked.
Kontras
There were no cons really. Parting is such sweet sorrow.
