Pros
The focus is on helping people into employment and doing what is best for them. The candidates on the programme genuinely wanted to find work and wanted our help, so it was refreshing working with people that volunteered to come to see us rather than being mandated. The team is positive and friendly on the whole and there is some great partnership work with local and national employers. Working hours are also good - 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday and the pay is relatively good compared to welfare to work standards (not the highest but certainly not the lowest), plus there is the potential to earn more if you are in a management role. Work is generally varied too - meeting new people regularly and making a difference too.
Kontras
Can be a little laid back at times - not always a team spirit and sometimes colleagues did not take responsibility for their performance (or lack of). There also seems to be a finger pointing culture - unfairly blaming lack of performance on the wrong people and quick to use same old excuses all the time, but this is not across the board and is often office specific.
