Pros

Opportunities to learn and gain skills. Most coworkers are kind, friendly, talented, and hardworking. The work is interesting with lots of variety. Work hours are generally flexible.

Kontras

Employees feel unappreciated. Heavy workloads. Managers seem to have little empathy toward employees. The path of professional development is not clear, and there are few opportunities for advancement. The company is not very diverse. Communication between management and employees is often unclear.

Pros

Nice people, interesting book topics.

Kontras

Part of their sales pitch was their company culture and treating employees like family, but this was quickly obviously not true. Organization and communication were a mess, nearly a third of company either left or was laid off during my stay, including both of my supervisors and they didn't have a creative director until my last day on the job. I didn't receive training on their process, people were eager to report my mistakes to management, and ultimately I was let go for trying to fix a mistake I made earlier in a book due to "not following the proper workflow" which they, again, did not instruct me on. They also asked me to take on video editing tasks immediately which was something they had asked about in the interview, which also interrupted my ability to learn how to do my job. Additionally there are no upward or career advancement options, it's a family company and you're not part of the family.
