Pros
Every day is different Nice in-branch staff members
Kontras
"too many cooks spoil the broth" - too many 'managers' with a say. Never worked in a company like this where there are so many means of contact, yet when needed in the worst situations I can guarantee you not a soul answers their phone. Once rang 6 different support managers with a query and got through to voicemail for each. Poor HR who do not listen, are robotic and definitely do not value their employees. They will ask you a series of questions in attempt to check up on you, despite the questions being completely inapplicable. HR's behaviour completely contradicts the principle that you are taught at training - staff are the most valuable asset to Ramsdens... Very funny. Lack of communication throughout company, too much reliance on "weekly communications" for information. Upon asking HR for advice, were directed to look for a communications document from months previous. Also too many different departments with individual contact numbers. Nothing is easy in this company. IT SYSTEM is slow and full of unnecessary things and services that the company no longer offer. Tills are old fashioned, allowing for easy discrepancies. Can be opened at any time and are not connected to the IT system. Till are old wooden heavy drawers with old fashioned till inserts. Ridiculous in comparison to other well-established companies with competent IT systems and cash registers. Too much company reliance on staff members covering other branches. Branches should be equipt with enough staff to handle sickness like other well established businesses. Company are not environmentally friendly, wasting ridiculous amounts of paper. Difficulty getting holidays despite entitlement- holiday tracker in place which means that only 3 staff members can be off at once in the whole region. All in all, staff are underappreciated and the job is stressful. Low salary offered and staff are expected to have 4 hands and 2 brains. Too much focus on selling jewellery when there are 5+ services that Ramsdens employees are already required to offer customers. IT systems incompetent and are not efficient/equipt for what they are supposed to do
