Pros
Mostly great culture and ethos with lots of kind, smart people and great friendships made. Lots of fun, cheer and laughs in the working day. There's so much opportunity to learn and grow there, if you are willing to work very hard and take on responsibility. It has opened a lot of doors for me and exposed me to areas of business and creative fields that I wouldn't have otherwise experienced. Also opportunity to move within the business, once you've proven yourself, even if it's into something quite different. An MD who genuinely cares about the brand and the people in it, a respectful atmosphere is generally sustained. Progression is usually meritocratic – if you are performing well, you progress. Salaries are good for media. Good system of listening to employees. Hugely diverse range of subject areas to get involved in, on any side of the business – if you love to learn and are interested in B2B and current affairs, it's very stimulating.
Kontras
Expectations are very high, especially in sales roles. The support is there, but there's no way to sugar coat it – hard graft is essential but it pays off. Some inconsistency with processes and progression and there was definitely an emphasis on sales roles when I was there but as it's grown, this has changed. Sometimes business growth / hiring decisions are made flippantly and carelessly, but this seems to be happening less.
