Pros

- Good experience if you are new to tech. Many colleagues have very little to no experience in tech and have been able to learn a great deal through this role. - Generally, your colleagues are nice and easy to get in touch with. I have had very little trouble speaking to people across the company regardless of role. - If you get out of your lowly team, the experience reportedly improves.

Kontras

There is SO much to list here but I will have to settle with a few things: - Don't kid yourself, starting salary for what you're doing (essentially 2nd line at other companies) is HORRENDOUSLY low. This also does not increase proportionally with experience or even when you move roles. I have heard stories of people moving to 'Senior' roles and getting no more than £500 extra a year. - Favouritism is horrendously rife. Too many times I've seen people totally give up their responsibilities but get praised for doing something different. Or people getting awards when it is totally not deserved. - Upper management is woefully unaware of how little they understand their employees. Never thanking workers for the long hours whilst shovelling more and more work downwards. - Promotions are entirely dependent on how much management already like you. If you're already liked, even an interview might not be necessary. Once you're high enough, your role name might change along with a nice pay rise when others have to interview for their promotions. - Training is non-existent. By this, I mean training that will actually lead to a promotion that you want. You will get plenty of training on new products that the business wants you to help with. - Transition times between roles are massive. You can get a role in January and not start until August. In that time, you will not have your old role's work taken off you and your new role's work slowly assigned to you. - The company will have monthly global meetings to boast about their insanely high profits while you lament over your woefully low salary that hasn't increased in any significant way in over 5 years. - The team is ALWAYS understaffed. By this, I don't mean that lots of people are allowed off at the same time. I mean that the company does not allow the budget to the team to hire more staff than they need so that when people do move on, the team is not left short or when people leave. Which leads me to my next point. - The company takes 0 responsibility for an employee leaving. When they do, it is assumed that the employee is 'cutting and running', not that the company is a negative environment to be in. - Anonymous internal surveys are meaningless. No amount of constructive feedback makes any difference. Upper management will simply request to meet with you to discuss your issues negating the very point of it being anonymous. - Older colleagues are leaving for rival companies and reporting that it is miles better (including pay). The company though is making no attempt to address why. - Development on existing products is so bad that our competitors are literally stealing customers.

Pros

Our current leadership is among the best in the country. That drives great teamwork, customer service and confidence in what we deliver. I also love a hybrid environment with intentional in-person team time.

Kontras

They are working on this, but advancement opportunities and better use of skills sets for persons with clinical quality backgrounds.
