      Pros

      It looks better than a blank spot on a resume. You can feel good knowing you will never work anyplace worse than this. Free coffee. Clean bathrooms.

      Owner regularly screams at employees for things that have nothing to do with them or are beyond their control. Owner is crazy and puts most of the company's resources into projects that no one cares about and lose money. Owner also knows very little about design or business and only cares about his wallet. Owner will tell clients anything to get their money and regularly misleads them or outright lies to them. Very few clients work with RKS after a project is over. Many leave mid project. Employee turnover is extremely high. No one believes how high it is until they see it for themselves.

      We welcome feedback, positive and negative however, we completely disagree with this review. We, in fact, have a very high client return rate with only an exceptionally rare cancellation which occurs should a corporation change course, as all in this profession know and accept. Many of our clients have been working with us for 20 years and longer. In business for over 35 years, our contributions to people's lives is what propels us. Our integrity, talent, knowledge, approach and experience has led to countless success stories for our clients and great admiration of the RKS team and their contributions by it's management. In the process of serving our clients and the greater good, our team and the ownership have also shared in the success. This review is simply false and malicious.

      Pros

      Interesting projects, good range of clients Other designers were generally kind and talented Some level of independence Can choose focus area Learn a lot quickly Owner is a good salesman and can be personable (But when things go wrong, he is very difficult, near impossible to deal with. See in cons below.) I had some fun times and connected with coworkers, but overall I had a difficult time mostly from the stress given to management, which trickled down.

      Business preys on young designers' willingness to work hard: Low start salaries, very few bonuses given, if any Location is far from LA central. Thousand Oaks is a conservative suburb. Long hours. Did not respect need for work/life balance Lack of mentorship, due to short timelines Owner lied pretty frequently, changed things at whim, sometimes undermining work of his own team in front of clients Owner clearly prioritizes the money he makes over employees' wellbeing Experienced designers who started at RKS, quit fairly quickly. If you do decide to work here, do not stay longer than 2 years. Any more is unhealthy.
