If you want to learn and grow, work with them while you still can. Many middle managers are the kind of leaders you’d happily follow into battle. Unfortunately, the promotion algorithm seems to favor the exact opposite personality type. The commercial leadership used to be world-class. Past tense intentional. The remaining colleagues are lovely, collaborative, and talented. Management appears to be working tirelessly to fix that last part.
