Pros

If you love developer level docs, operating system, technology-wise this place is good. Just wanted to warn what caution folks what you're are walking into. I can truly tell you at one time, this place was a great place to contribute, work, and find good wholesome people. Not anymore, or at least not on our TechPubs (docs) team.

A few years ago, we hired a new manager in TechPubs. At first, this person seemed nice enough, but we soon found out that this manager was at best, incompetent. They know how to leverage the politics and made certain claims shortly after 6 months that pretty much stopped management from taking affirmative action. How did we find this person? Ironically a colleague of mine recommended this person, but he had only brief encounters with this person before. This backlashed on him with the manager's micro-aggressive behavior that marginalized him. This person built false narratives, invalidated him with their passive bullying tactics, making false accusations, and finally turning on him and forcing him out the group. I could do nothing but watch and I regret not saying anything. Before that, this manager caused another one of my colleagues to the brink of exhaustion, resulting in health issues. My colleague was also forced to move to another group and shortly left our company. The manager pigeon-holed and stereotyped people, tore the fabric of previously close team apart, and never took ownership for much, other than taking credit for work that the manager never never did. The ironic thing is that this person would say one thing, such as don't work so such, but then assign more work and move up timelines - often without consultation. This happened for years. The manager never contributed much, and at most, was and is diluted, ungifted project manager with little personality and knows how to deceive their upper management. The poisonous environment started here with this manager eventually forcing the manager's boss to resign as no action could be taken. Both cases went to human resources. Twice. No action to this manager. I saw the same things starting to occur to myself and I've decided I don't need this anymore. If our human resources can't (or won't) protect us and upper management is fine with whatever reasons they keep this manager around, then I'm blissfully going walk out of here with my sanity and health.

Independence, self-motivation, clear goals, wide markets.

Lack of touch w/ customers in the field, poor marketing research, too ambitions plans but not enough tools to reach them.
