Pros
I worked there as a copy editor from 2010 - 2011. Pros: Staff is friendly. Staff is supportive of branching out, and actively encourage you to try other roles. They do try hard to maintain standards of accurate and ethical journalism, which is a very good lesson to imbibe, regardless of your later fields.
Kontras
Since the staff are almost entirely composed of students, despite their best efforts to implement rules and procedures, a lot of the day-to-day stuff can seem a bit 'slapdash' or thrown together at the last minute. To be fair though, this was my only experience working for a newspaper, so it is entirely possible that this type of disorganisation is true of all newspapers, not just the Exponent.
