Pros
-The product that you sell and represent is a great brand. Pepsi has hands down the largest category of brand offerings, which makes them a powerful player in the mass grocery and C&G markets. -The technology that Pepsi has developed and utilizes for selling are great instruments and contribute to the success of the sales team. -The company does a good job of creating a brand image
Kontras
-Your home life suffers, particularly for low to mid-level managers. Since most of the business is done Thursday through Sunday, that is when you are most active. When the holidays come around, forget family dinners or grilling out on the 4th as you will be in 'the trade' filling shelves and building displays. -Opportunity for advancement is very limited. When upper positions within the local facility do come open, they are usually filled by someone hired directly into the position off of the street. Education and connections are valued more than previous experience with the company. -Pay and compensation is deplorable. When considering the hours you commit to the job, the responsibility and the personal sacrifices made, it makes it even worse. However, this is not epidemic to Pepsi, as all of the major beverage companies pay about the same. Vehicle reimbursement, for use of your personal vehicle, is not even close to making up for the cost of gas, wear and tear, and maintenance. While you can deduct the balance each year on your taxes, it doesn't really matter each week when your filling your tank up three and four times.
