Pros

I've been working at Pensar for just under a year and I don't think I'll be able to return to a conventional work environment. At Pensar you don't check in and check out, no one is watching your time; if you have somewhere to be in the middle of the day? Great, we'll see you later. You control your schedule because you're an adult and everyone at Pensar understands people have a life outside of work. Pensar clearly cares for its employees' well-being by offering very competitive pay and excellent benefits. Parking/public transportation, cell phone, medical premiums all paid for (including family) and 100% match on 8% contribution in your 401(k). Oh, I almost forgot to mention the beer, wine, and liquor available to us as well as monthly lunches with the entire group. The employees are some of the most brilliant people I've had the opportunity to work with and it shows in the deliverables and value we offer to our Clients. Though, don't let that intimidate you, there are no egos at Pensar and everyone is happy to offer their time should you need it. If you're thinking about working at Pensar, make sure you sign on early enough to make it to the Holiday Party, it's a blast.

Kontras

Because we have a lot of fun at Pensar it can be a bit distracting. Time management is very important so you can afford to take a couple minutes to return fire in the event of a NERF gun war.

Pros

1) Smart and engaged teammates. Everyone I've worked with is great. It is such a pleasure to work with folks that have expertise in their respective fields and a willingness to share their knowledge and experiences. 2) Thoughtful leadership. Group-level leadership is interested in feedback and the needs of their team. In assigning engineers to projects there is consideration paid to matching project needs with the technical and interpersonal strengths of individuals, while also allowing opportunities to take on challenging work that requires learning new skills. 3) OFFICE DOGS. Others might rank this lower on their list, but I really enjoy taking a break to pet dogs that come to the office. I'm looking forward to post-Covid times when I can scritch all the pups. A+.

1) Challenges getting up to speed on consulting mindset. Consulting is all about the client and helping them be successful, which can be a change in mindset coming from a traditional corporate environment. More active communication about expectations, goals, and progress is required both within a team and with external clients. Not necessarily a "con" as this should be the norm in any working relationship, but it is a skill that takes time and intentional effort to develop. Fortunately there are plenty of experienced folks at Pensar that can help teach these skills.
