Pros

Does Paycom teach you valuable skills to expand your sales career? Yes. Does Paycom give you unlimited earning potential? Yes. Are you absolutely miserable the entire time you're there? Absolutely.

Kontras

Paycom is a sales organization that operates on the fringes of a cult. Money, Status and Fear is the fuel that drives the Paycom engine forward. These are the fundamental pillars Paycom uses to gain control over their employees.. and trust me.. control over their employees they have. First of all, throw any semblance of a work like balance out the window. When you become a Paycom employee, you are on the clock 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Another thing to make clear.. Paycom will tout their 'amazing culture', and their work life balance... but it's all an illusion. For example, women in the office I worked out of repeatedly expressed their fears of getting pregnant, because they knew the pressure that puts on them. Managers "jokingly" talking to their employees how starting a family isn't a good idea, because.. you know... the manager needs to hit their number. Get used to working from 6:30 am - 8:00 pm regularly, and even when you leave the office your manager bombards you with a series of group text messages recapping what happened during the day. Paycom loves to talk about money in 2 ways: 1. How much money they give you 2. How they think you should spend said money The encouragement to live a "luxurious lifestyle" comes at a serious cost that goes beyond money. Directors encouraging you to buy "stuff". Nice suits, nice cars, nice watches, nice houses.. You know.. That whole outdated sales approach where you have to look the part in order to be the part. Where this backfires is when you have employees who over stretch their lifestyle and can't afford to leave Paycom. This creates an entire culture that is solely focused on making money to buy stuff, yet everyone is absolutely miserable. You can see it in their eyes when you talk to an employee who's been there for a while. Do you want to make good money? Than work at Paycom. Do you want to spend 70 hours a week in toxic environment where no-one champions their peers and everyone is out to achieve a hollow version of success... No? ... than Paycom isn't for you.

Our culture encourages hard work and rewards performance. It’s up to our employees to determine how to use their personal resources to meet their own financial goals, responsibilities and priorities. We fully support work-life balance and provide a variety of benefits, including paid parental leave. While we disagree with many of the statements you have made below, we appreciate your feedback and the contributions you’ve made to the organization.

Stressful getting the hang of things. Took a couple months. Very worth sticking around because there is great potential to move up.

Pros

- Base salary - PTO - Awesome colleagues - $1 Medical PPO offering

Kontras

- Upper leadership seem to not value the operations department as much as they do with sales. They are not consistent as well, which causes them to change the entire department's job description, expectations, & commission structure every few months. Change is good but huge change every 3-4 months is so exhausting. - They overload you with too many clients to handle while increasing the number of internal calls. When asking for support from sales or middle management, its typically a hard negotiation or non-existent. Expect to work way over 40 hours/week and juggle 10-20+ clients at a time. - Sales will oversell on product & implementation expectation which makes the job 1000% harder. Turnover with sales is extremely high so don't expect for even the best reps stay as they either leave, get fired because quota was not met, or the new manager will cut them if they're "not the vibe". You get left with the newbies who does not know how to sell or support you when you need them. - Every role in this company has high turnover in general. Making it very hard to cross collaborate with other departments as everyone is either extremely swamped or new to the role and cannot support as well, - Being forced to go to Oklahoma for training every year, sometimes twice a year.
