Pros
PIH has an options for free/low cost medical and dental benefits. The doctors and c-suite executives are generally humble and will meet with you on an as-needed basis. The hospital system wants to grow and be competitive amongst other Southern California health systems.
Kontras
They cater to RNs and doctors only. You will have subpar and non competitive wages and pto benefits. They don’t pay you extra if you’re an administrative staff and work on holidays. However, if you work on the floor and are an RN, they will pay you extra for holiday work. The entire hospital is very-RN-centric and caters to RNs. This is great for RN’s, but what about everyone else? If you are a graduate pursuing other degrees outside of nursing, go somewhere else. You will be underpaid, no remote work, and treated as less than if you don’t have a clinical education. Their behavioral health care is atrocious and many of their departments are disorganized. The communication in care coordination is nonexistent. I see they are now just barely hiring additional managers for Epic and projects. It’ll definitely be a shift and difficult to grow. While working there, I was surprised several staff do not wash their hands after using the toilet. I was always afraid of getting care there as a patient.
