Pros

Anna, the Managing Director, is kind, approachable, and truly easy to work with. She leads by example, creating a workplace culture where people feel valued and supported. The team environment is collaborative, and there’s a strong focus on employee development. Owen Reed offers great exposure to the legal recruitment industry, with training and opportunities that help you grow both professionally and personally. Transparency in communication and inclusive values also make the company stand out.

Kontras

The only challenge I’ve experienced is the time difference, since Owen Reed is based in the UK. This occasionally means adjusting schedules for calls or meetings, but it’s manageable and comes with the benefit of working with an international team.

Pros

When I first started out in recruitment, I’ll be honest - it wasn’t exactly love at first placement. I was young, eager, and ready to prove myself, but the experience left me feeling a bit disillusioned. It was fast-paced, high-pressure, and frankly, not the right fit for me at the time. So I changed direction. I stepped away from recruitment and moved into the legal world, taking on a role as an admin assistant at a law firm. It might not have seemed like a glamorous leap, but for me, it was a fresh start. I learned the ropes, saw how a law firm really operated from the inside, and discovered how much I enjoyed being part of the legal environment. There’s a structure and a rhythm to legal work that clicked with me - and more importantly, I understood what support staff in law firms actually go through. Fast forward to today, and I’ve found my way back into recruitment - this time, at Owen Reed, and this time, it feels right. What makes Owen Reed different is that it brings the best of both worlds together. We specialise in legal recruitment, which means I get to combine my past experience in law with the recruitment side of things. I’m not just reading CVs - I’m understanding the roles, the teams, the pressures, and the personalities that make law firms tick. Having been in a support role myself, I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the desk. I know how important it is to find the right fit - not just for the firm, but for the individual too. That perspective helps me do my job with more empathy and insight, and it makes the work more rewarding. Working at Owen Reed is genuinely refreshing. It’s a professional but supportive environment where your background is seen as a strength, not just a line on your CV. We take our work seriously, but there’s a human side to everything we do. There’s collaboration, trust, and plenty of space to grow. Looking back, I’m actually grateful for that rocky start in recruitment. It pushed me toward the legal world, gave me real experience, and eventually led me here - to a role that feels like the perfect blend of everything I’ve learned along the way. Legal recruitment might not have been my first love - but it’s definitely where I’ve found my stride.
