Pros

It's a small company with less than 10 employees, so there's a possibility you'll get your hands on more technology than you would elsewhere. The ticketing system that the owner built from the ground up appears to be a product in itself that was very robust.

Kontras

It's a small company. 'Management' consists of the owner and a project manager/office manager. The owner isn't very trusting of the people he brings on as new employees and it can take up to three months to get into the field on your own as a Field Service Technician. With nearly two weeks in, I hadn't been provided with any tools to do my job in the field other than a knapsack full of peripherals and a bunch of paper forms - even though I was told I would be given a laptop and a company mobile phone. Any admin-level access was denied and never granted - including on my office PC. This meant that I couldn't complete daily tasks that were required by the role. The pay was very low. 'Best practices' for their business clients seemed to be whatever they could get away with billing them for instead of finding efficient solutions for their clients because it meant they could continue selling them on-site support. There was endless paper to be filled out and forms to be checked off at every step of the way - which seemed to hinder efficiency - especially for a company that's in the technology space. Employees seemed to not trust or treat new employees with any respect or concede that they were hired because of their technical abilities. Colleagues seemed very set in their ways in solving problems instead of recognizing there might be more than one way to arrive at a solution. Frequently I was pushed aside when resolving issues or demoted to doing tasks that my colleagues didn't want to do like unboxing VOIP phones, installing Windows, taking out cardboard to recycling, filling out forms, etc. 9:00 AM is the hard start time. Flex time is unheard of. One minute after 9 AM and you're late - never mind the fact that you stay after 5 PM to complete tasks or don't take breaks/lunch. The quality of your work won't be judged, just that you were late no matter the reason.
