Pros
The best part about OTR has always been the people. Mostly everyone is nice and welcoming. Catered lunch Monday’s. That’s about it.
Kontras
Where to begin. With the pandemic and record inflation, OTR was actually performing better than ever. Volume was through the roof, yet no raises were given, not even to combat inflation/cost of living increase. Every month, Ops and AR are given a goal. If both departments hit the goal, a $500 bonus is given. It is all or nothing. If one department doesn’t hit their goal (even if the other does, no bonus). For several months in a row, AR would hit their bonus, but Ops wouldn’t, meaning no one got $500. Morale was LOW, so how do they expect it to improve when employees are hitting their goals while simultaneously being punished for them. They think things like team lunches and silly competitions like wall sits will improve morale. It just seems OTR is blind to what truly would improve morale. Compensate your employees what they’re worth, allow them flexibility to work from home if they want, and treat them like adults with respect. Also, only 12 days off a year and only 3 sick days.
