Pros

In my role I always knew what was expected of me and I enjoyed not having to work on the computer but instead was setting up events, good exercise too, perfect job for a college student

Kontras

The upper management of the museum is questionable. I don't know how OMSI is classified as a non-profit, they make so. much. money. They make at least $27,000 a week from parking kitty, they make astronomical amounts from ticket sales, showing movies, private events, they get grants, and MORE. Despite this they do not pay people in the facilities department enough compared to other places. They have a 20 year plan to expand and they are buying property around the museum. Doesn't sound like non-profit behavior to me. They are prioritizing expansion over people.

Pros

When management is competent, the experience is great. There's tons of really cool teaching materials (bones, minerals, taxidermy, etc.) donated over the decades. There used to be a really lovely culture of inclusion, history, and community out there. Summer is brutally hot but can also be really fun.

Kontras

Management plays favorites, violates safety codes, undermines staff, pits people against each other, and can't open a word document to save their lives. Fire and safety protocol are not clear and misunderstood by the person in charge.
