Pros

A great place to meet entrepreneurial people and build a network of friends Helping someone to make their dreams come true, is a rewarding feeling A great first job or internship, to grow a thicker skin

Kontras

Not a good place to build a career. Taking on more responsibility, performing complex tasks with no prior experience, and going above and beyond the job description is expected, but rarely rewarded. Those sacrifices have nothing to do with entrepreneurial and start-up culture of the community, employer’s trust, intent, or company culture, but everything to do with a lack of planning and poor management. Employees are underpaid, stretched thin, and raises are to be fought for. Everything is set up for employees’ failure, and when it happens, the leadership is so much in denial of what might have caused it, it attempts to punish the employee (sometimes in very unethical ways). Turn over rates are very high. A staff of 20 people fully rotates almost every year. Decisions are arbitrary and everything is a priority. The leadership is progressively disconnected from staff, and all about grandiose expansion.

Pros

Fun and energetic place to work. A lot of the staff is young and ambitious, making for a great environment. Many people willing to share their specific knowledge and help others grow. Upper management was always kind and easy to work with.

Kontras

Really don't have much to say about any cons. I loved working here.

Pros

Very cool members and exposure to interesting projects and startup ventures. Free classes and access to the workshop equipment.

Kontras

Upper management so far removed from the day to day operations, they have no idea what can be accomplished in a set amount of time with the number of people performing blended roles (more than one job.) Constantly shifting priorities due to a reactionary culture. There is no real business plan so all one can do is respond to shiny object syndrome thinking this new initiative is gonna change the whole outlook and finally make it a profitable company. Toxic leadership that insinuates you should be grateful for being offered a pay cut.
