Pros
I will say that once upon a time, Newegg had a chance, a real chance. In the 2008-2011 time frame the company was on the rise, looking to grow revenue and looking to diversify both in product and in personnel. We had shed ourselves of some of the company bad guys and even those that were left, fell into line. There was a growing level of enthusiasm for the company both internally and externally and we were headed in the right direction. Those of us there at the time were proud to be part of something which seemed could be truly special. Unfortunately, the dream didn't materialize into reality. Now, I will point out that employment at Newegg has its positives and you can learn and make strong connections within the industry but as far as a fufilling career, look elsewhere.
Kontras
About every 24 months, Newegg's CEO decides his company isn't doing what he'd like and he gets involved. This is usually with good intentions but without deep understanding of the real issues. When this happens the moles, traitors, liars and cowards...the cockroaches basically, all come out and begin an unscrupulous, corrupt and unethical process of trying to increase their level of power and influence within the organization and unfortunately the CEO is gullible to this tactic. Eventually, changes are made, power is shifted and then the CEO retires back to silence and the cycle starts anew. The last cycle occurred not long after a few key executives left the company in the 2011 time frame to competitor companies. With their leaving, a lot of those remaining lost hope. The CEO promoted a figurehead to run the company, who proceeded to hire some non-qualified, overpriced executives, the cockroach’s smelled opportunity and the Newegg spiral began from which the company may never recover. Interestingly, the cockroaches don’t just exist hiding in the dark; they now run the place even as performance and reputation seem to decline at exceedingly dangerous levels. Just look at their homepage stuffed with advertising and you can see where this is headed.
