Very sexist - if you are a woman (especially a young woman) your assets and contributions are not valued and often completely overlooked. The people here are not acting out of malice, but the senior management has been there since the organization started in 1969, and it is a bunch of old white men who don't get that you can't ask if someone plans to get pregnant in a job interview, or joke around about women being bad at directions and driving. The tone is set from the top, and there is a very deeply entrenched culture of implicit bias towards women. Further, there is no HR department so one cannot report things like sexual harassment. This is a huge problem, because as one might imagine, entitled white men who started their careers in the 60s have a very different attitude about what is and isn't appropriate in the workplace - especially if they have never had a HR rep provide any kind of sexual harassment training. It can also have a petty and gossip-y culture, so you have to be careful to stay above the fray. Managers & Supervisors need to put a lot of time and energy in a new hire for things to work out. It takes about two years to fully train a new hire, and many positions work remotely, so this means there is a significant amount of time and travel required. Terrible hours. They pay for your cell phone, computer, internet, personal wifi device, etc. but expect you to be available to work at all hours. It was not uncommon to get phone calls at 7:00 am or be expected to respond to an email set at 11:00 pm within the hour. It results in an AWFUL work/life balance, and because of the significant amount of travel there is a high burn out rate
