Principal tends to limit teacher autonomy. Although there are promises of support for first year teachers, that support often falls short. Rather than offering helpful observations or constructive feedback, criticism is frequent, which can feel discouraging. In the middle school, there’s “mean girl” energy among admin. Imagine being back in high school dealing with the campus bullies. Raising concerns, requesting changes or constructive feedback may result in being singled out or dismissed. Additionally, they gaslight you, which can leave you questioning your own perspective and professional judgment.
