Pros
- I am surrounded by people who challenge themselves everyday in everything they do and they don't just expect me to challenge myself, they **encourage and support** me to do the same. - The "us" vs. "them" mentality doesn't exist here. Referral bonuses do not put a premium on technical over non technical. There is no receptionist and everyone is expected to great guests and make them feel at home if they're walking by the front door. Vendors, candidates, friends, and investors are all treated the same...like respected guests. There are no walls between departments. We don't have separate team t-shirts or HHs or traditions. We look at ourselves and see different parts of the larger machine of Mode without feeling the divide of loyalties that can often happen at larger companies. - Hackathons include everyone from the Office Manager to the CTO. Mode believes that everyone can have a say in our product and our processes. Everyone has a seat at the table. - We eat lunch together every day where we almost never talk about work, but there is no dinner and that's because they want us to go home and have a life outside of work. - Solid perks for a small startup including choice of medical, dental and vision, flexible work schedule and unlimited PTO, conference + professional development budget, regular social events and skill shares, and daily in house lunches and snack pantry.
Kontras
Lots of work to do and not enough hands to do it, which is not new for a start up in this town. We're definitely working on it!
