Pros

The people in your immediate team are great trauma bond partners Benefits are actually good

Kontras

"Good enough, isn't?" more like "isn't good enough" Level is only interested in growth and posturing that they are a big agency. Level would rather have an agency summit in Las Vegas over multiple days than give their employees raises or hire more people to make our day-to-day more bearable. Any positive reviews of this place is made by someone who drank the Kool-Aid and is a part of this weird, corporate-bro cult. Drowning in work? So is everyone else and that obviously is not managements problem. "Maybe try a new AI workflow? You obviously need to figure out how to make it work on your own time. Why would we help you?" - management

Pros

Level is a company with a lot of heart and a lot of ambition. The people here genuinely care about doing great work, supporting each other, and building something meaningful. There is a strong culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement, and I’ve seen many examples of people stepping up well beyond their job descriptions to help clients, teammates, and the business succeed. The company has grown a lot, including through acquisitions, and that has created real opportunity for people who want to grow with it. There is a strong focus on performance, results, and getting better every day, but also a real effort to do things the right way. Leadership is generally accessible, the company communicates more transparently than most places I’ve seen, and there is a clear desire to keep improving the employee experience as the business scales. It’s also an exciting time to be here. The agency is pushing hard into AI, better systems, stronger processes, and deeper client impact. For someone who wants to be part of a growing, evolving company rather than a static workplace, Level offers a lot.

Kontras

Growth brings growing pains, and Level is no exception. As the company has scaled, some processes, systems, and communication rhythms have had to catch up to the size and complexity of the organization. That can sometimes create ambiguity, changing priorities, or moments where teams are moving faster than the structure around them. The pace is also not for everyone. This is a performance-oriented environment with high expectations, and people who prefer a slower-moving or highly predictable workplace may find it challenging. There are still opportunities to keep clarifying roles, improving cross-team collaboration, and making sure change is absorbed thoughtfully across the organization.

Pros

Fully Remote, and co-workers to trauma bond with.

Kontras

Level agency is one of the most dysfunctional workplaces I've ever been part of. There's no coherence to structure or process. As part of one of the agencies that level had acquired, there was no formal or onboarding process when our team was integrated into the overall agency, which left everyone bewildered because it happened so quickly and haphazardly. It left everyone confused on next steps. The big reason for this is because there's little to no communication between leadership and their teams. There is no way to control for workload. No one at management listens when people flag that they are drowning in work, and hiring additional staff is out of the question because profit. The assumption from upper management is that a new process, AI and automation will eventually free up a significant chunk of our time, which is a dubious take considering that it doesn't solve for the dysfunction we're experiencing today. Establishing new processes is also an extremely painful process because most teams are understaffed, which contributes a lot to the issues here. Speaking of AI, management is drunk on AI. They worship it like a deity, and will not tolerate anyone speaking bad about it. You're expected to submit surveys every few weeks that log our performance, goals, and AI use. As a common theme at Level, there's no coherence around how AI should be integrated into workflows. The expectation is that it will magically save people more time (which is speculative at best), and, even if it does, they will re-purpose any time saved for more work. So don't expect Level to establish 4 day workweeks in the future when that time comes. Clients have become disappointed that our work has deteriorated in quality because there just isn't any time to give care to each task, mainly because timelines are unreasonable and unrealistic. Work/life balance does not exist here. To Level, anytime saved is anytime that can be used for more work. Leadership makes our lives harder because teams are terribly managed. Do not work here if you take pride in your work because you won't be supported here. Level is a factory, with a speedy conveyor belt, for churning out work for the sake of it, rather than caring about quality. You will be thrown into new processes or platforms, and expect to complete things within tight deadlines without any support.

Thank you for writing this — it's a thoughtful critique and we are taking it seriously. To be direct on a few things: yes, we're definitely betting on AI and automation. That is real and it's not changing. What we continue to work on improving is how we execute — specifically, how we integrate acquired teams with proper onboarding, how we help people manage their workload, and how we hire people who want to be part of what we’re trying to do. In the last 12 months we've invested in a formal manager leadership program, introduced a new workload tool and added several new and experienced senior leaders. There's more work to do, especially on post-acquisition integration. If you're still here and willing, please reach out so we can learn and continue to grow.
