Pros

Work from home without intrusive technical requirements (depending on your role)

Kontras

Larvol Group has a corrupt management culture, mostly dictated by Bruno himself but all the bosses perpetuate it. They are offensively cavalier about screwing with peoples' compensation. Whenever Bruno decides it's more efficient for some group to be on a different pay structure, they're all required to sign a new employment contract or they're out the door. Your new contract will of course not include all the concessions they pretended to make when negotiating your previous contract. For anyone who isn't at the very bottom of the company, they promise a big paycheck then at the last moment reveal that you only actually make half of that, and the other half is in the form of a completely discretionary "flexible bonus" which you won't get much of. They give various excuses about the bonus, like "smaller bonuses across the board this year because the company made less money than expected" right before sending the yearly update bragging about how well the company is doing financially. The review process is designed to be extremely competitive, they copied all the techniques used at Amazon where everyone is ranked against each other and it determines your bonus. There is zero politeness around this, all year long your boss will threaten you financially, speaking very plainly about how your bonus will be lower unless you work extra hours etc. The day to day management procedures are more intrusive than anywhere else I've ever worked and you will waste lots of overhead time creating daily reports of the time you spent, and being in daily meetings with your boss where they grill you about your time report, demanding more detail about every point, but also incredulously challenging every detail you give them. You will drive yourself mad trying to determine the level of reporting granularity which minimizes how much your boss complains at you (there isn't one). What they really want, but won't actually say, is for you to work more than you are reporting.

Your comments have been heard and Bruno, myself and Executive team members respect your choice to post them here. Without knowing more about your work experience at Larvol, I can only speak in broad terms. However I can say unequivocally that we do care about individual success and job satisfaction. We discuss weekly how to create meaningful, engaging, and long-term relationships with our team members. As a self-financed company, even in successful years, we will always prioritize investment in products to achieve both long-term stability and growth. We are also a competitive, ambitious company and our performance evaluation system reflects that. Where we can do better is the feeling that any of the above information was misrepresented during your time with us and in particular a “work more, report less” culture. We have already started going team by team to reiterate that is not a goal or desired outcome, as clearly as we possibly can. I invite you to connect with Bruno or myself directly if you’re open to discussing further. We do wish you the best in your career. ~Amanda, HR Director

Pros

opportunities to travel and build relationships within the industry

Kontras

This is, without question, the worst place I have ever worked. Leadership is the core issue. The CEO runs the company in an ego-driven, top-down manner where disagreement is seen as disloyalty. Decisions feel reactive, inconsistent, and often disconnected from market reality. There is little to no openness to feedback, and challenging ideas — even constructively — is not welcomed. The turnover rate on the sales team is extremely high, and after working there, it’s easy to understand why. Targets are set and changed arbitrarily, often without data or logic to support them. Expectations are unrealistic and then weaponized when they aren’t met. Despite the company being around for nearly two decades, leadership continues to hide behind the “startup” excuse to justify weekend messages, lack of boundaries, and constant pressure. There is no real work-life balance. You are expected to be available at all times. The culture is fear-based. Messaging around performance frequently centers on how easily you can be replaced. Instead of building a motivated, empowered team, leadership relies on intimidation. Morale is low, and most employees operate carefully to avoid triggering the CEO’s unpredictable reactions. HR, in my experience, was completely ineffective. It does not function as a neutral support system for employees. Concerns go nowhere, and there is no meaningful advocacy when issues involve leadership. You are essentially on your own. There were also serious concerns around financial stability. Compensation and payments were delayed, with explanations tied to the company being in financial trouble. That alone created a significant level of stress and uncertainty. The product itself feels outdated compared to competitors, despite constant internal claims that it’s best-in-class. There appears to be little real awareness of how far ahead other companies in the market have moved.
