Flexibility, pay, and company recognition

There have been layoffs and reorganizations every 6 months for what seems like years. While there are initiatives to be "an innovator" and come up with the next great idea, it's been challenging to stay focused when people in the cubicles next to me are being let for and their jobs are transferred to Ireland or Mexico. Management is very top-heavy. Because of this, they often lack the understanding or appreciate the effort of their own employees. Communications between project and product groups are also lacking.

Pros

Excellent office culture...we have each other's back and everyone is there for each other on the quest to provide the best customer experience. We bring a, "whatever it takes" mentality to our workday. Best part of our job is our work family.

High pressure industry that must be managed daily. We save lives! That brings a heavy responsibility to what we do and means we must remain focused at all times.

Decent pay, good PTO and benefits

Everything else. ZERO training. They hand you a laptop (which is garbage) and say good luck. There is no "team." Everyone is on their own. The senior techs all reached their peak 20 years ago and don't even know what BACnet is. The bureaucracy is unbearable. Ordering a simple part is nearly impossible. There are so many apps you have to check in on everyday and they care more about those metrics than they care about the service their customers are receiving. If you want to get your butt kicked everyday with zero support at a company that specializes in taking advantage of their customers, this is the job for you.
