Pros

Patient care is first and foremost. Intermountain invests in innovate cutting edge technologies/methodologies to help patients during their most vulnerable times. The organization communicates to the media and employees on strategies and shares stores to connect employees back to the patient experience.

Kontras

I work outside of the clinical environment, and it is difficult to connect your role back to patient care. This company does not honor its mission when it comes to the employee experience, because employees are overworked, underpaid and there is an overwhelming sense of feeling undervalued. Bureaucracy is in full form at Intermountain and NO ONE can make a decision because they are struck with decision paralysis, the directive is always given to employees "let’s have another meeting and get more people involved." This is frustrating and leads to non-progressive movement with projects or initiatives. I have worked with Intermountain for years, and know it is time to leave the organization because things will never change, and the mission and values are not honored when it comes to employees. Overall the culture is not one I want to be part of any longer because poor leadership, low pay (I must mention a 2-3% annual increases which is insulting), zero growth or development support from leadership. Along the lines of development...if you don't manage your own path to develop yourself, you will left behind in your career. No investment will be made on your behalf either because you will be told that no funds are available to help you with development; or your manager is plain and simple to busy (managers are caught in the same catastrophic lack of work life balance) - be ready pay for all of your continuing education and find your own opportunities to learn and grow. This organization is heavy on high level leaders, and don't provide support for the front life staff. Management is willing to sacrifice turnover, disengagement and unhappy employees at the cost of meeting their goals and getting a big bonus at the end of the year.

Pros

There are many mission-driven caregivers who genuinely care about patients and want to provide high-quality behavioral health support. I appreciated the opportunity to work in an area connected to telehealth, crisis response, and access to care. The work itself can be meaningful, and I believe many employees are trying to do the right thing for patients and communities.

Kontras

In my experience, the department culture was not psychologically safe. Feedback and performance concerns were not handled in a way that was clear, consistent, or supportive. I left feeling that the performance process was more punitive than developmental, and I did not feel meaningfully supported by leadership or HR during a difficult employment transition. The experience affected my emotional well-being and made me much more cautious about workplace culture and management practices.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. At Intermountain Health, we’re always working to keep communication open and meaningful across all levels of the organization. We’ve built in several ways for caregivers and leaders to stay connected and share feedback, like 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins during onboarding, regular team huddles, and quarterly meetings. These touchpoints are designed to create space for real conversations and collaboration. Additionally, we believe that a culture of well-being for all caregivers is foundational to our ability to deliver on our mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible. Caregivers are at the heart of what we do, which is why we have invested in and implemented several programs and resources to help caregivers enhance their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial health. It’s important that every caregiver feels secure, supported, and safe, both at home and at work. Your thoughts will be shared with our teams as we continue to learn and move forward together.
