Pros

Good People, generally standard place to work

Kontras

After making massive improvements within the company, when review time came, and I asked my manager for my raise to reflect the contributions made I got the reply "companies just don't value their employees like that, it's just how it is" which is when I immediately started looking for a new job. There's also a consistent amount of "this is just the way we've always done it" which is definitely a problem making it hard to make improvements.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate hearing from all team members, past and present. Our senior leadership team has worked to improve the efficiencies and overall effectiveness of the company this past year. One of those areas we worked on was to introduce a new performance review process. We are disappointed to hear the comments you quoted from your manager and have worked to make sure managers are empowered to lead and engage their teams effectively so that everyone’s contributions are valued and recognized. - VP People

Pros

At least you’re not unemployed

I worked at Insureon briefly and I am writing this review to warn potential future employees. I am not disgruntled, I came to Insureon excited and was immediately disillusioned from day one. You are being sold a dream in the interview process, I am hoping to shed light on the reality of working on their sales team. First off, this is a boiler room. You will receive and work a high volume of low conversion leads. You will be selling micro policies to small business customers who have been unable to get coverage elsewhere. You are paid primarily based on the number of policies sold, with the expectation that you sell 2-4 policies per client. You will need to sell 80+ policies a month to hit goal. Once I had access to the dashboards it was clear that only 1-3 reps any given month hitting goal. There are about 10 reps who hit the lower tier and the majority (30+) do not get a bonus of any kind. The goals are outrageous. Management actively promotes lying/omitting the following to insureds to sell more policies: Adding policies without asking/explaining to the insured what they are paying for Not mentioning the very steep service fees Misclassifying businesses Lying on applications about payroll, sub contractor %, employee count The reps who hit goal consistently are the epitome of a slimy salesperson. The top rep has NO KNOWLEDGE of insurance. They are losing partnerships due to high cancellation rates. I am not sure what the long term plan is, but I do not foresee them operating for very long under this current strategy or write as many garbage policies as possible and hope the carriers don’t notice. They are literally doing things like writing roofers under trim carpentry, tree service under lawn care and general contractors as handymen. In my short time there I lost count of the number of times management said “don’t worry about cancellations, once its written it isn’t our problem” or “don’t overthink it, just sell it” or my favorite “that’s why we have E&O”. Don’t walk, run away screaming from any opportunity to work here. I haven’t even touched on the culture, the people or benefits. All of which are somehow worse than the job itself. Think about the kind of person who would want to work here long term? That’s exactly who works for Insureon.
