Pros
I've worked at start-ups most of my career, and honestly, it's the best one I've ever worked for. You get all the good things that come with a start-up, without the big egos or politics. And that's a big one for me, personally. No one has a hidden agenda. There's a whole lot of trust and humility throughout the org. And everyone is genuinely nice, something I think that is highly underrated! It's refreshing and motivating to get up every morning and work on a product that millions of people love (and btw actually use, we rank #1 in terms of engagement for meditation apps worldwide!), with a diverse, talented, passionate group of people. As an employee, I feel like the work that I do has an impact, on the business, on my team, and of course, on the well-being of our customers. It's a great feeling and I consider myself really lucky.
Kontras
Not necessarily cons, but things that just might not be for everyone: It's a startup, so if you come from a corporate environment with lots of structure and process, it's probably not the best place for you. It's fast-paced and there's always a lot going on, so you need to be able to keep up and be comfortable working autonomously. Being a meditation app, everyone is pretty diligent about work-life balance, but definitely without a "9 to 5" attitude (as in people just clocking in and out). You can tell everyone cares deeply about the product and the company; they take pride in what they do and are motivated to go the extra mile (which is really motivating btw). Expectations are high. It's definitely not a cushy job. It's challenging and it's creative.
