Pros
Learned a new medium - podcasting. Became much more familiar with Internet content creation. Learned how to utilize social networking (learned on my own, not from any mentors) Got to live in Japan and not teach English.
Kontras
Lots of cons. First the biggest goal of the company is not to actually teach languages. It's to make money. Make no doubt about it. It's like one of those sleezy Internet Viagara sites, just for languages. Lots of superlatives (best, fastest, ever!!!) in their advertisements. It makes you sick to be a part of that kind of company. But it all has a purpose - to make money. That would be fine if the workers saw some of it, but we don't. It's all for the bosses. I heard from a former employee the company makes around $5 Million a year. But I want to do a little math just for the heck of it: Avg employee wage = $2500 / month x 20 employees = $50,000 / month Electricity / supplies = $10,000 / month (just taking a guess) Server fees / bills = $10,000 / month (another guess) New Endeavors = $10,000 / month Rent = free (they know the building owner) That's $70,000 a month = $960,000 a year. So where's the rest of the $4 million dollars? Oh right... right back into the bosses pockets. They don't treat their workers very nicely, nor do they believe in sharing profits, even with the highest of management. Don't go there. It's a waste of time. Unless you like making money for money hungry bosses that don't believe in sharing.
