Pros

The job itself is boring, but you get an hour's paid lunch and there's overtime available consistently. Casual dress code.

Kontras

The office setup is atrocious. One giant room that was apparently once a studio for filming commercials, cheap IKEA desks and uncomfortable chairs. No privacy or ownership over your own space in the room, supervisors who consistently question your internet usage when the whole job is based on searching the internet and bizarre, arbitrary and random enforcement of rules for different people at different times (including matching timesheets to building check-in times from scanning your ID). Trapping the entire staff in a giant room in the winter is a game of telephone, except instead of sending a stupid sentence down the line, you send every possible cold, flu and stomach virus in a vicious round robin that seems to last for three to four months. The overhead lights are never turned on, which gives the whole place a creepy basement-dwelling feel. Even the casual dress code is an issue, with some employees showing up in sweatpants and stained shirts every day. Pay raises are offered up like methadone doses at a rehab clinic-- you're told they're coming, they're coming, just a little longer and when they do materialize, you find out it has nothing to do with merit or amount/quality of work you contributed, the company is on a razor thin margin so everyone gets the same token raise which is so small it winds up being non-noticeable after taxes. In addition to the office ambiance, the skills you learn at this job are almost entirely non-transferable and ending employment at Info means reaquainting yourself with how a "real" work environment operates. This includes being asked to use your common sense and intuition and having your work deemed acceptable without having a two hour argument as to why your ideas are valid. You also remember that there are supervisors who are promoted on merit and leadership ability, not solely on tenure with the company, and that there are places in the world where hard work and social savvy can lead to you yourself being promoted to a more senior role, all the way up to management.

Pros

The atmosphere was relaxed and supportive. Everyone took their job seriously, but they were still friendly. Both bosses and coworkers were willing to give you any help you needed.

Kontras

Because it's a young, growing company, you can never be sure how long temporary assignments will last. But they do keep you updated.

Pros

Casual dress code, paid time off, option to do overtime, good location

Kontras

There is little opportunity for advancement here and the pay is below industry standards. Even those few who have been promoted -usually because they have been there for many years- only make a few dollars more than new hires. The work is very monotonous and the limited skill set used is rarely beneficial for other jobs, making it difficult to find other employment after working here for more than a year. Rules are often inconsistent, sometimes literally changing from one week to the next. Most workers are kept in one large room, where the overhead lights are never turned on for some reason. Very depressing. The temperature in the main room is kept low, so be prepared to freeze your butt off in both Summer and Winter. Info.com/Zenya is a very new startup, so be prepared to be brought on temporarily, and possibly let go after a few months, as company revenue and available work fluctuates.
