Pros

There are a lot of things that management gets right and they seem to continue as they grow. To name a few: * Management is responsive and proactively gathers feedback from employees * Equipment and facilities are either adequate or above standard * The new offices at The Stratum are accessible from South Austin as well as north * Company tries to provide a laid-back and fun atmosphere * Perks include a fancy coffee machine and free snacks * I love working with smart people. They have done a good job of identifying and bringing good people aboard. All the people I interact with at InMotion are top-notch and take pride in their work. It is a very smart and highly competent group. To be clear, there are many groups within the company as it's mostly in the consulting business. * Ergonomic chairs and furniture

Kontras

Before starting here I read through the reviews, especially the negative ones. There are some nuggets of truth here and there but overall I would say the positives far outweigh the negatives. * It's a consulting job (for me at least). That means you can work with the greatest people on earth as part of your team but you basically work for the client, and that can be a real mixed bag. When you go to work at a consulting job you have to put on your big boy or big girl pants and be prepared for some things the client does or expects that you might not have to put up with in a regular job, and that can be hard to predict up front. People don't quit companies, they quit bosses, and "who is your actual boss?" is a hard question to answer in consulting. * It's a business with two strata, management and employees. Management makes themselves available and it's one of very few jobs I've had where the CEO would stop by to ask me how I'm doing. (ok, that's a pro isn't it). But at the end of the day you're going to work there as an employee and if you're expecting to move upward into management (I'm not) you'll be disappointed. The partners are a group who's been together for some time and are mostly family and investors (I think) so they've invested themselves in building up the business. Nowadays continued employment is a Good Thing. You can expect some dual standards to apply because sometimes people who are part of the management/partner stratum will show up as they please and do things at their own pace, and you'd best remember your place as an employee. It's really not that different from other places I've worked, and in many ways considerably better. Modern workplaces are all democracies at the end of the day, because if you don't like it you can always vote with your feet. This does not bother me at all but I think it's worth pointing out because some of the more negative reviewers apparently didn't get how things work. * Open seating is always a con as it can get noisy when people whose jobs require collaboration are collaborating. If your job requires deep concentration bring your headphones. * There seems to be an emphasis on time spent in the office as opposed to time spent getting things done. There is some allowance for flexibility but when things are always in crunch mode (as is often the case with consulting projects where the quality of management on the client side may be of varying quality) people often end up having to make excuses to be able to work from home when "I can get a lot more done working from home today" should really be sufficient if someone has proven they can do it. * This is another one I don't really consider a con but worth pointing out. This is not a place for slackers. If someone wants to take it easy at work and doesn't take pride in getting excellent work done, this may not be the place for them. Overall I think it's much less pressure to work extra (unpaid) time than other places I've been. But my problem has generally been that I don't slow down as much as I (sometimes) need to.

Pros

Good salary, remote, and challenging.

Kontras

80 hours a week, only paid 40. Fixed budget project, over worked to make client happy. Started out as a normal 40 hour first month, then 60 hour for two months, the months at 80 hour s week. I got really sick.

Pros

They were very much timely and kind. All employees were very friendly. That said they were operating out of a "We Work" office and acted like it was a professional environment. It was really awkward to come in and try to work while it was so beyond obvious that these guys were operating the core system of the operation out of this location while you see them at their multi-million dollar mcmansion.

Kontras

I frequently found myself without any direction. When they said they needed people whom could take the ball and run with it, they really meant it. Boy they had absolutely no Product Manager to tell you what to do. There are lawsuits against them that they have had to pay out. They have claimed an employee wasnt legal and fired them only to have to pay it out. Makes you exceptionally uncomfortable to figure out what type of people they really are to your face vs. behind your back.
