Pros

I now know how to spot one of these ‘Pitchman’ vs. ‘Product led’ startups that have no real product, product market fit, and make egregious statements on their website about the offering that are completely untrue...never again. I saw red flags but ignored bc I bought into the ‘pitch’ and that’ll never happen again thanks to InCountry.

Kontras

The guise of being a ‘global company’ is a joke. For example: the announcements about new partnerships in the UAE I found especially offensive given in a staff meeting a member of the C-level staff joined zoom while visiting the UAE with an ACTUAL TOWEL on his head with a belt a-top it to imitate the traditional white head scarf with black wrap worn in the Muslim culture. This executive and others laughed hysterically as they mocked this culture while discussing what potential business they could do in this region. Deeply offensive behavior. For a supposed data compliance and privacy company there are so many things wrong - starting with the fact that employee privacy regulations are blatantly disregarded across the C-level. There are other mentions of this incident in glassdoor reviews but the photo of an executive staff member who was critically injured and almost died was circulated quite broadly from 3 of the top executives and shared with various members of the team as a joke and those subjected to this horrifying image were encouraged to laugh “look at our employee of the [expletive] month”. Also, note to all EXISTING EMPLOYEES - the CEO reads your email and internal chat client conversations...be careful. There are almost zero women at this company. Offshore contractors are often referred to as “code monkeys” and flying external contractors to offsites was referred to as “slave transportation”. No product market fit, and with current strain on global economy data residency regulation is an absolute afterthought and most likely these regulations will lift dramatically to increase global business as we go into a global recession. If there wasn’t revenue before the pandemic I can’t imagine how there’s a possibility of it now. The only positive about the pandemic for this company is that the burn rate will dramatically slow given they can’t spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on company wide international travel. Maybe now they can afford a decent benefits package and to convert the 80% + of the company who are contractors to full-time employees and provide benefits to them as well. So much attrition, people fired at the drop of a hat, racist, homophobic, and unethical/ borderline illegal business practices are the norm.
