Pros

Employees outside of the executive team are great to work with.

Kontras

They’ll make a lot of promises as far as professional development and growth but never deliver on those promises. Tenured employees are often overlooked for promotions in favor of outside hires with “more industry experience”. Or, they are told they are ready for a promotion with no clear path or guidance. If you are looking for a diverse, progressive, engaged work culture, this is not the place for you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. As Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer, I take feedback seriously, and I want to address your concerns thoughtfully and transparently. First, I want to emphasize how much I believe in the work our executive leadership team is doing. I see a dedicated group of individuals working tirelessly to guide the company through a period of significant transformation. The work they are doing behind the scenes, and with limited fanfare, is transformational. However, I acknowledge that transitioning from a small, close-knit company where everyone is deeply involved in every decision and project – to a more structured, bigger-company environment – is a big shift. It requires us to implement guardrails and standards that help us scale while maintaining our core values. Regarding professional development and promotions, the reality is, not every idea can be implemented nor every person promoted. InCheck has always fostered an open-door policy, and a great deal of our growth is attributed to employee feedback. We have always believed in empowering people at all levels to apply an ownership lens to their work, and this has led to countless internal promotions throughout the years. In short, it’s the people we’ve worked alongside for 20 years who have built the company just as much as we have as owners. Speaking more to the people of InCheck – I completely agree – they have and still do make the company stand out. In a sea of background screening status quo, it truly is our people that make the difference. Always has been, always will be. Sometimes when a company is growing the focus must shift to growth-oriented initiatives which can spread leaders thin. Our leaders have acknowledged this and are actively working toward a more well-balanced environment. Your feedback is added motivation to get there. I acknowledge we’ve faced challenges during this transition. As we’ve grown, our processes and systems haven’t always kept up with the needs of our team members. I hear you, and I assure you we are actively addressing these gaps. Our focus for the future is on ensuring we have the right people in the right seats and creating clearer paths for growth and development—whether for those who have been with us for years or newer team members bringing industry expertise and fresh perspectives. Employee inclusion and engagement remain a priority, even though we will always have work to do. Building a culture that aligns with these values takes time and deliberate action. We are listening, learning, and making the necessary changes to create an environment where all employees feel valued and supported. Lastly, I want to thank our employees—past and present—who have shaped this company. Their contributions have been instrumental in getting us to where we are today. We remain committed to fostering an environment where all voices are heard and everyone has the opportunity to thrive. I sincerely hope this response demonstrates that the co-founders and the executive team are listening. While no company is perfect, we are striving every day to become better—for our team and the clients we serve. Thank you for your feedback. It pushes us to keep improving. Andy Gallion
