Teams are either flat or loosely structured and collaboration is extensive. Usability testing and feature validation are getting underway to bolster emerging products. Founder, employees and management are accessible and friendly. There's ping-pong, pool, darts, and foosball--occasionally happy-hours, off-sites and hackathons.
Kontras
Key engineering leadership roles and overall technical direction are currently missing. Processes are antiquated, immature or undefined depending on what part of the platform you work in. Practice, process and tool adoption are splintered. The time necessary to apply best practices is too readily compromised away for momentary priorities. icix feels corporate even though employees are expected to (and some do) bring start-up-level urgency and commitment. The location is inconvenient. Vacation and perks are not competitive. The company's values are unclear. The lack of transparency and institutional inertia are less than reassuring.
