Humu was the first company I had a strong pull toward. I waited and sought out an opportunity to work at Humu (and so many others outside Humu have shared that Humu was a dream company for them too). The amount of behavioral science and organizational psychology talent at Humu was (and is) incredible and unique. Humu is no longer the Humu I described. We’ve stripped Humu of the cultural elements and practices that made it an inherently motivating, challenging, and interesting place to work. We’ve kept many of the elements of old Humu that were less-than-functional - like silos and resistance to internal feedback - and introduced new hurdles and practices that foster frustration and fear - like rolling workforce reductions, revoking of practices that support employee wellbeing, skipped raises/promotions, lack of leadership visibility, decline in the treatment of employees from experts and stakeholders to ungrateful/replaceable resources, and lack of transparency and psychological safety.
